Short answer

Domain E is 10 of 75 scored questions (13%). It covers communicating team concerns to a supervisor in a timely way, seeking and prioritising clinical direction (training needs, data irregularities, chain of command), reporting variables that may affect client progress such as illness, medication or schedule changes, and writing objective session notes that meet legal, regulatory and workplace requirements.

Why it matters on this exam

These questions test judgement about when and to whom you communicate, and whether a note is objective.

Key concepts (tasks E.1–E.4)

Concerns from caregivers or teachers go to the supervisor, promptly; the RBT does not change the plan.
Seek clinical direction when data look odd, when you have not been trained on a procedure, or when the plan and the situation conflict; follow the chain of command.
Report variables that could explain progress or regression: illness, medication changes, sleep, schedule changes, new staff.
Objective notes: what was observed and measured, in the past tense, without interpretation ("cried for 4 minutes after the demand" not "had a meltdown because he was tired"); signed, dated, stored per policy (HIPAA/FERPA where applicable).

Common mistakes

Waiting until the next scheduled meeting to report a medication change.
Writing notes that describe internal states or motives.

Worked example

A parent says the learner started a new medication yesterday and slept badly. The RBT documents the report in the session note and informs the supervisor the same day, then runs the session as written and lets the data speak.
